Hi,
After uninstallation of 1.5.5.1008 version, i cannot re-install it. I have this error message:
[ There is a problem in the installer in some of the preview versions. Please close the browser and open it again before running any forms ]
My uninstall procedure is:
- uninstall formsplayer with Windows Uninstaller
- remove all formsplayer directory in "Program Files"
- remove "Class Factory" into Downloaded Program Files Folders.
How can i do?
Updates
You will see that message on every installation, so the message itself doesn't indicate a problem. Are you saying that below it, there is no version number for formsPlayer?
(The message relates to the fact that when you are upgrading you need to perform a restart. We've devised a way to avoid the restart, and this should not be a problem after the next release.)
I have installed the 1.5.5.1009.... Installation work fine
Now, i want to install version 1.5.1.1018 (the most stable version) so:
I uninstall version 1.5.5.1009. with "windows uninstaller".
I reboot my compute.
I try to install 1.5.1.1018 and i obtain this message:
formsPlayer is being downloaded and installed. Please wait.
There is a problem in the installer in some of the preview versions. Please close the browser and open it again before running any forms.
Below this text you should see the version of formsPlayer that you have installed.
formsPlayer version:1.5.5.1009
what is the "standard process" to uninstall formsplayer?
Hi David,
Despite the messages you are seeing, you may actually have 1.5.1.1018 installed. The way to check is simply to close the browser and re-open it on the same installation page. Nothing should be installed, but the version number should be correct.
Perhaps you could let us know what version number you get after re-opening the browser?
(As I said before, this whole issue should be fixed in the next build.)
Mark
After have re-open my browser at the URL " http://www.formsplayer.com/install/formsplayer?latestrelease=1,5,1,1018 "
I obtain the same message:
formsPlayer is being downloaded and installed. Please wait.
There is a problem in the installer in some of the preview versions. Please close the browser and open it again before running any forms.
Below this text you should see the version of formsPlayer that you have installed.
formsPlayer version:1.5.5.1009
When will the next build be available?
If you load a form, what version do you see on the splash-page? Is it the version of fP that you are trying to uninstall?
Also, are you using IE6 or IE7? Windows XP or Vista?
(We've been unable to reproduce this on any of our machines, testing on both IE6 and IE7.)
When i try to load a my Xform, i have this error message:
Error loading binding
'file://C....\x-port.net\XForms\chrome\xbl\baseTrigger.xbl', The system cannot locate the specified object.
I use IE6 and Windows XP SP2
What is the process which identify the version of formsplayer in your "install page" on the formplayer web site ""
It's may be a hint for me to find how resolve my problem.
I think formsplayer isn't uninstalled despite the windows uninstallation process.
Please see this post on the way to identify the installed version of formsPlayer.

Here, the my version of player:
You have the following version of formsPlayer installed: 1.5.5.1009
| Version: | 1.5.5-dev | » 1.5.5-dev |
Pffffffffffffffff
Now i have installed version 1.5.5.1010.....all work fine throughout the installation.
->So i uninstalled it with "Windows Add/Remove program" .
-> I restart my Browser
-> I try to install an old version (1.5.1.1018) and i obtain this error message again:
formsPlayer is being downloaded and installed. Please wait.
There is a problem in the installer in some of the preview versions. Please close the browser and open it again before running any forms.
Below this text you should see the version of formsPlayer that you have installed.
formsPlayer version:1.5.5.1010
- when i execute the Xform that display the version number, i have this:
You have the following version of formsPlayer installed: 1.5.5.1010
Helppppppp
Here's how I have tested installing/upgrading/downgrading versions of formsPlayer on my machine (XP SP2 with IE 6).
I started with no version of formsPlayer installed.
- Went to download page and installed 1.5.1.1018
- After install, checked version number with the form from the link in my previous post, showed 1.5.1.1018
- Went to download page and installed (upgraded) 1.5.5.1008
- After install, checked version number with the form from the link in my previous post, shows 1.5.5.1008
- Went to download page and installed 1.5.5.1009
- After install, checked version number with the form from the link in my previous post, shows 1.5.5.1009
- Went to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and selected 'formsPlayer Community Edition'
- After remove completed, checked version number with the form from the link in my previous post, showed
'formsPlayer has not loaded. Please check your installation.'
On my machine I then had:
- NO "c:\Program Files\x-port.net Ltd" directory
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\x-port.net directory which contains no files but some EMPTY folders
When you have uninstalled and you are still seeing that formsPlayer is installed, something else to try is to see if there are any *.dll files in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sidewinder\*
and
C:\Program Files\Common Files\x-port.net\*
If there are, unregister them using regsvr32. If you dont know how to do this, please take a look at this MSDN page.
An example command from the DOS prompt would be:
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sidewinder\DOM\DOM2Events.dll"
Once you have unregistered them, remove the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sidewinder dir and it's children
and then try an re-install your desired version of formsPlayer.
formsPlayer installs components into two folders:
Program Files\Common Files\x-port.net
and
Program Files\Common Files\Sidewinder
After uninstalling formsPlayer using Add/Remove programs, check the Program Files\Common Files\ directory for those folders. If present, remove them before installing the version you desire. This should have the desired result.
