Window docking in embedded mode does not work

The window docking code is severely broken in embedded mode. Once floated, windows refuse to dock and the docking hints are ugly. I believe that the cause may be something fundamental about the parent window type for the docking layout manager in embedded mode (e.g. the fact that it is not a top-level window).
