alert does not show for invalid controls inside valid groups or repeats

Noticed in response to: xf:alert for xf:select1 does not show it's content

Open select1-alert_v2, and change the value of the select to a valid one (any content), then change it back to an invalid value (any blank value). The alert does not reappear.
