In a recent release by Active Storage the company proclaimed significant performance and ease of use enhancements in the Active Storage XRAID, a RAID storage system for Apple users. Debuted in October 2008, the Active Storage XRAID features a Mac OS X management suite and claims outstanding performance in Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, and Xsan applications. Housed in a 3U enclosure, the Active Storage XRAID is designed to produce high throughput and low latency in multi-user Apple applications with its architecture, LINUX based RAID kernel and segmented caching scheme. Existing customers can upgrade with a memory change and software update.

Micro Focus International announced that it has completed the acquisition of Relativity Technologies. Completion of the transaction follows a meeting of Relativity Technologies shareholders held on 30 December 2008 at which its shareholders accepted the offer. As previously announced by Micro Focus, it is intended that the Relativity Technologies business will now be fully integrated into the Micro Focus Group. On December 8, 2008, Micro Focus announced their agreed offer to acquire Relativity Technologies for approximately US $9.7 million in cash.

Scio Consulting, a provider of Nearshore Outsourced Product Development (OPD) for ISVs, SaaS and Web companies, has announced a key addition to their executive management team. Scio CEO, Luis Aburto, said that the company hired former MassMutual and Kanbay (now CapGemini) executive Jeremy Beck as VP of Business Development to be responsible for growing sales in the North America region. Mr. Beck, 35, will begin working at the Mexico-based nearshore development center immediately.

Actuate Corporation has announced the final results of its modified Dutch auction tender offer for up to $60 million of its common stock, which expired at 12:00 midnight, New York City time, on Thursday, December 18th. Based on a final count by the depositary for the tender offer, a total of approximately 20.7 million shares of common stock (including shares tendered by notice of guaranteed delivery) were properly tendered and not withdrawn at prices within the stated range for the tender offer of $3.00 to $3.50 per share. The Company has accepted for purchase and will promptly pay $3.50 per share for 17,142,857 of these shares at a total cost of $59,999,999.50. This represents a proration rate of approximately 83.0%.
